Fire at Cotton Godown in Pune kills 5

Five people were reported dead after a cotton godown caught fire near Chakan area in Pune. Around 10 in the morning fire broke out in Sana industries premises on Talegaon-Chakan road at Kharabwadi, about 45 km from Pune. A case was registered against the owner of land, Ramdas Maruti Kad and the godown owner, Asif Khan under section 304 part II (causing death by negligence).

The cause of fire was unidentified but there was a possible reason of a short circuit, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajkumar Shinde. The victims were identified as Radha Thakur,  Kalpana Shirsath,  Ramdas Rathod, Kusum Sakharkar and Ujjwala Saosale who were the workers at the godown.
