From December 3 onwards, old rs. 500 notes will not be used for the purchase of petrol, diesel and gas at the petrol pumps and gas at the stations operating under authorization of public sector oil marketing companies and also at the airports for buying tickets as per the government announcement. However, The old notes can be still used to pay other utility bill and at railways till December 15.Also, for bus ticket purchasing the notes are acceptable till December 15.

Wherever old currencies are allowed, some people use it as an opportunity to get their notes exchanged. For an example, the new currency at petrol pumps doesn’t reach government banks, rather it goes to the people who want to convert it.
