After the French government accused Russian and Syrian government forces of committing war crimes in Aleppo in Syria, Vladimir Putin canceled his trip to Paris.
On October 19th, Putin had to visit a Russian art exhibition and Russian Orthodox cathedral in the French capital. Kremlin accused France of seeking to humiliate the Russian leader. This was done after French President François Hollande said he was unwilling to meet Vladimir Putin.
On Monday, the French foreign Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault said that France would be questioning the prosecutors at the International Criminal Court in the Hague to consider an investigation into suspected Russian and Syrian war crimes.
“Dialogue is necessary with Russia but it must be firm and frank,” Mr Hollande said in Strasbourg.
