Railways get Rs.1656 crore for Bio-Toilets and CCTV’s

Indian Railways has received Rs.1656 crore from the government for installation of bio-toilets in trains and CCTV’s at stations across the country in a boost to the railways’ cleanliness and safety drives under Swachh Bharat Mission.  It has got Rs 500 crore under Nirbhaya Fund for CCTV surveillance of all major stations for enhancing passenger safety and security.

Railways have set a target for making the entire network as discharge free zone by September 2019.

40000 Bio-toilets will be installed in trains and by the end of the fiscal year, 30000 more will be installed. Even the new trains- Humsafar and Tejas will be equipped with bio-toilets.
