Balwinder Sahni, owner of a property management company spent Rs.60 crores on a license plate in an auction in Dubai. According to reports, he paid 33 million dirhams ($9 million, or Rs59.9 crore) for his Rolls Royce on October 8. The Plate had number “D5”on it. Sahani also purchased another Dubai number plate for 1 million dirhams ($280,000).
License plates with shorter numbers are considered to be a status symbol by the rich and wealthy people.
The auction took place on Saturday in which about 80 license plates were auctioned.
The bidding for this “D5” license plate started at around 20 million dirhams. The money from the sale of these number plates will be used by the Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority.
