Satellite SCATSAT-1 was recently launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This was launched for weather and ocean related studies.Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C35) took off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota which carried eight satellites.
ISRO’s SCATSAT-1 has the ability to generate wind patterns over the surface of ocean with accuracy. The life of this satellite mission is 5 years, said ISRO.
According to ISRO, the engine will be shut down, after putting into orbit SCATSAT-1. This satellite also contains features like tracking services to the users and cyclone detection. The mass of the spacecraft is 371 kg.
