About 1050 dogs were gathered in this campaign. According to the sources, about 2000 more are estimated to be targeted in the next phase.

The city had very fewer resources to re-home dogs or putting them in pounds so the dogs had to be poisoned to death as told by the chairman of the municipal jurisdiction, Rehan Hashmi.

Hashmi added “Had there been some better resources or options, I would love to switch to that”They are living beings after all.”

The city reports 15000 cases of dog bites in a year.
