UNFCCC Award given to a Pune Based NGO

Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP), which is a Pune based organization has won the 2016 UNFCCC Momentum for change award for its work on Rural Community Women Leaders Combating Climate Change. It was one among the 13 winners.

UNFCCC Momentum for change is an initiative the Climate Change secretariat to recognize transformative and innovative solutions that address both climate change and wider social, economic and environmental challenges.

SSP preliminary operates across 14 districts across four states in India, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Under this award-winning initiative of SSP, rural women are involved as entrepreneurs in propagating clean, green practices in sustainable agriculture, adopting renewable energy solutions and protecting natural sources.
