WhatsApp to end support for old handsets by the end of this month

WhatsApp has decided to stop supporting some old handsets by the end of this year 2016.
You can check the list of phones which fall into this list here!WhatsApp announces that it will not support the earliest models of Android, iPhone, Nokia, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone 7 by end of 2016.

Whereas the recent report says that what’s app will be extending it’s support to
BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia oldest model till June 30, 2017. Now as per the early announcement by the WhatsApp, it’s the end of the year and so WhatsApp will not be compatible to many old versions of phones by next month or so.

If you are worried then hang on you need to read the whole article because it doesn’t look like many phones will be affected by the decision.WhatsApp support will be stopped by December 2016 for those running on Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, the iPhone 3GS and or any other iPhone still working on iOS 6.

So for now, around 0.1 percent devices run on the Android Froyo. It means if you have phone on Ice cream sandwich or Jelly Bean then you don’t really need to panic.As per a report by Apple revealed in October 2016, there are around 8 percent devices still on earlier old versions of iOS.For Windows 7 mobile owners, 2016 will definitely be the ending up with the WhatsApp support.  The WhatsApp blog says that the reason behind the step taken is that the older version of phones don’t offer the compatibility and features that WhatsApp looks forward to including.
